Device Specific Configuration Options

To provide some background, I support a manufacturing business. We use our thin clients with an industrial touchscreen to control machines. These thin clients auto power on, they auto login to a RDP session, they never go to sleep, most stations do not have mice or keyboards.

For the past several years we have been managing these devices with FTP, there have been some unique behaviors introduced by various FW revisions but this has largely worked well for us. When a device fails and is replaced, or new equipment is brought on site we are able to stand up new thin clients with very little configuration.

Basically:

IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, FTP Server

These settings combined with setting the thin client name via DNS, allow us to grab a device specific INI file from the FTP server.

With 9.0+ no longer supporting FTP, I have installed and am evaluating WMS. The options I see do not seem promising for replicating something similar. The best I have come up with is creating a group for each device which does not look fun to manage and will be significantly more work to configure, have I missed something obvious?
