Default RDP link, BIOS upgrade and renaming clients

I’m trying to get WMS sorted for our 3040 devices with FW 8.5_012 and have a couple of questions:

  • Renaming the hostname on the thin client via System preferences seems to work initially, the new name is registered in WMS after reboot but NOT on the thin client which still holds the old name. A second reboot changes the name back in WMS. Apparently the change is not written in the device’s CMOS?
  • There’s a “* Default RDP” shortcut in my taskbar I need to get rid off and I can’t find the setting in the WMS policies, any idea in which part of the WMS policy this is configured?
  • Our 3030LT clients are still reporting to our WDM server, if I want to move them over to WMS via for example a $PF.ini (in which they are redirected to a CCM(WMS) server), is there a setting that will block automatic reboots until the next manual reboot by the user (because of the configuration change)?
  • How does upgrading the BIOS work via WMS. I downloaded the .bin from the Digital Locker but the WMS agent can't upgrade BIOS because of invalid credentials (which are default)

Thanks

in order to rename the Thinclient name you need to set Terminalname=$tn (under general settings (8.5+))

the Deafult RDP* link seems to be a bug in WMS , after contacting Dell Support they told me that it will be fixed in the next release.

in order to upgrade the Bios you need to provide the current Bios pwd. this is mandatory from version 8.4. You can set it at Advancved Device Confiuration\Advanced, Add line: Device=Dell CMOS CurrentPassword=''Fireport

or the BioS password that you have set, Fireport is the default pwd.
