Wyse T50 - recover files from Trash bin

Client put in a SD card into Wyse T50 terminal from a Fuji camera. They claim the files disappeared.
Weird thing is I can see the files when they insert the SD card into the same Wyse terminal, but they are in the Trash bin on the Linux file manager for that user profile
I have tried all methods to recover these files to either the original SD card, or to other locations.
Errors I receive are:
Trying to RESTORE:
Could not restore "filename.jpg"
Failed to determine the original path for "filename.jpg"

Trying to COPY or send to another location:
Invalid Filename.
Do you want to Skip it?

If I copy to the Wyse Desktop, that just puts a shortcut link to the location of the file still in the Trash bin

I have logged in as admin user, and can browse the user profile, but still have the same errors when trying to recover the files.

Are they gone and I am just seeing ghost links of these files on the Wyse terminal?

I have to go to site now and see if I can recover the deleted files off the SD stick using a laptop or different card reader.
I am also hoping that I may be able to retrieve from hidden Trash folder using a Apply Mac as it looks like Linux uses the same format as Apple does handling deleted items.

Anyone else had the issue?
