WYSE C50LE and Gemalto PC USB-TR Smart Card Reader Compatibility

Lightbulb WYSE C50LE and Gemalto PC USB-TR Smart Card Reader Compatibility

Hello!

I work in the telecommunication company in Bosnia & Herzegovina (m:tel), We have bought a few hundreds of Wyse C50LE Thin Clients recently. Also, we have implemented our own PKI infrastructure and I have experienced the problem with compatibility of the two devices: Gemalto PC USB-TR Smrat Card reader and Wyse C50LE Thin Client with Linux OS - SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11.

Gemalto PC USB-TR SmartCard Reader is connected via USB cable to the WYSE C50LE Thin Client (to the USB port). This client is related to the instance of the virtual machine - VMware View 4.5, with the Windows XP Professional running on.

After booting of the operating system (SUSE), the Login form (VMware View 4.5 Login form) appears on the screen. But when I put the smart card into the card reader, nothing happens (it should show me the form where I can enter my PIN, like on Windows XP, etc).

Some of my questions are:
1. Whether these devices: WYSE C50LE and Gemalto PC USB-TR Smart Card Reader are compatible or not?
2. Do I have to install any additional driver for PC USB-TR Smart Card Reader on WYSE C50LE?
3. Is there any property on the VMware View Manager regarding smart card authentication that has to be set on (or off)?

I have read a lot about this issue on the forums but I haven’t found any solution for this compatibility problem.

If you could help me with this topic, I would appreciate it a lot.

Thanks in advance.
