T50 - VLAN Tagging question
T50 - VLAN Tagging question
Hi All,
I need to access some Windows virtual machines for a development environment that are split into two VLANs in the same VMWare host. I have a small managed switch between the T50 and the VMWare host that supports VLANs (Netgear GS105E) but only one PVID (Native VLAN ID) can be configured for the port where the T50 is attached to.
Ideally, I would like to configure VLAN tagging in the T50 itself. I understand that this can be done in a "standard" Ubuntu Linux PC using the 8021q kernel module and configuring the /etc/network/interfaces appropriately.
However, I found that the 8021q module is not included in the current build of the T50 kernel, so VLAN tagging is not available. Now to the question/s: is there any other way to implement VLANs with the existing Ubuntu build? or, is it possible to build a kernel from source for the T50 with 8021q enabled?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Nick
