Getting to command line on T50 with Ubuntu 10.04 w/ Xfce

I inherited a couple of T50's with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and no documentation.

Unfortunately I have no experience with the default Xfce desktop & I see no Ubuntu logo that I usually click on to type terminal to get to the command line and Ctrl-Alt-T does not work.

I would like to run Python, but can't figure out how to load it.
