Updating to latest firmware

I've heard to update my thin client (ThinOS) to the latest firmware, I'd get the firmware from https://appservices.wyse.com/pages/serviceandsupport/support/downloads.asp and install it with the Firmware USB Imaging Tool, but I can't seem to find my Thin Client in either list...

I have an R10L, and the legacy list has an R00L, an R50L, and an R90L, which as I understand are Cloud, Linux, and Windows respectively, but there’s no R10L, which I believe would be the ThinOS image for my box – anyone have some suggestions?

According to http://www.wyse.com/support/eol/cloud-clients, I believe I need ThinOS 8.0_037, if that helps anyone help me out

brettpeirce,

WTOS firmware upgrades are not free and they require a Software Maintenance Contract to be downloaded from our Self-Service Portal at: https://support.wyse.com/OA_HTML/ibuhpage.jsp

Brett,

The firmware has not been free for more than 8 years that I've been dealing with Wyse thin clients. They used to have a 90-day free upgrade.

Dell is running a Free upgrade until July 31st, 2016. I don't have any details, but you can go here to signup: https://appservices.wyse.com/promodnlds/

Thanks - were they free at one point in Wyse history?

I keep seeing references to 90 day something or other, implying at least a limited free period, but then a forum post I've lost track of now seemed to say they/you no longer do that.

If this is the case, then can you provide any insight into why this was changed?

That "90-day free upgrade" is probably what I'm reading references to. I didn't get a chance to take a look to make sure, but I don't think it has a Dell Service Tag, so it would seem I won't be able to take advantage of Free upgrade through Dell.

Since I have a virtualization environment at home, I was looking to provide thin clients for my kids, maybe wife, and possible occasional guest, so they'd be relatively cheap (old), but essentially scalable as their desire for computing resources and capabilities grows. That still might work well enough with the R10L and the image it has, but it would have been nice to have the most upgraded image possible going forward.
