WDM 5.0 Installation

Hi, I am having some issues trying to install WDM 5.0.

Firstly, I am trying to install it on a Server 2012R2 and connect it to an existing SQL Server 2008R2.  When I try to connect to the SQL Server, the install says that the SQL Sever cannot be contacted, even though I have 2 other services using the SQL Server.

Secondly, if I try and install the SQL Server Express locally, the install goes through, but fails at installing the SQL Instance.

Can someone provide some ideas or pointers as to what I am doing wrong?
