XPS 17 9720, Bluetooth won't work until restart
My XPS 17 9720 started to lose Bluetooth functionality once in a few days. I often use my Bluetooth headset and suddenly it stops working. All sound playing apps are hanging until I turn it off. When I turn it on, it never connects back until the laptop reboots. The issue started appearing since I've upgraded to Windows 11. The laptop is marked as Windows 11 ready.

I have the exact same problem with the Dell XPS 9520.
Usually, with the headset connected (but not playing any sound), you can jump start it back to life by going to the Control Panel > Sounds > Recording tab. Sometimes it doesn't work, though.
Tried multiple times to reinstall sound/Bluetooth drivers and even resetting the laptop with the official image from Dell three times. The problem keeps resurfacing and I am 100% sure that it won't ever be fixed because that's the Dell way.
I will never, ever, buy another Dell in my life.

I have to bring up this topic again.
Since I got my 9720 in May I am having massive problems with my bluetooth. Every now and then it stops working, I can toggle it off but cant turn it back on (greyed out).
Then, restarting the laptop, I get a blue screen in recovery mode. When I restart the laptop everything works again until eventually the same problem will appear again.
Has anyone got a fix for this or knows what could cause the problem?

@Epicenter2023 I have the same problem as you on my XPS 9720. After each boot bluetooth headphones would work for several hours. But if I turn them off and then later turn them on they will not work (I have several BT headphones and they all give the same result). I will get not sound. The microphone will not work. Test chimes will not ring. But there are no errors logged. If I toggle the bluetooth switch to OFF then I cannot turn it on again. The switch actually toggles to ON position but the bluetooth icon does not appear and bluetooth does not work (even my mouse does not connect). At this point the computer will not even shut down cleanly. It will hang on reboot and I will have to power cycle it.
Dell Pair application does not help. As per it's description - it is meant for pairing with Dell products. So it is likely useless if you don't have those.
This problem is likely due to faulty bluetooth drivers. My XPS 9720 did not initially have this problem when I was given it a year ago at work. It cropped up after some updates. Now I cannot use BT headphones during Teams meetings at work.

I still have the same issue... I guess Dell doesn't care. I am pretty disappointed with my XPS 9720 so far. It cost a lot of money and has good specs, but performance, incl. many errors, is not good. It will be my last Dell laptop.

I have been having the same issue for quite a while now. I have re-imaged, rebooted, and factory reset several times, hoping this time it will be fixed. Nothing worked. My Dell XPS 17 9720 will produce audio at first, then cease producing audio for no reason. Reinstalling the Bluetooth drivers does not help either. I think this will be my last Dell computer, too. It's too much hassle, very expensive, and subpar, to say the least!

I have been having the same issue. My integrated camera also does not work. I have noticed that the transition from bluetooth headphones to integrated speakers and mic comes back on if you are willing to wait 5 minutes instead of restarting. If i turn on my camera app, the camera will work for a second and then turn off and then turn back on for a second.

@gilgil380 Same issue here un my XPS 9720. Sometime turning Bluetooth on/off helps, but it's unmanageable when it happens several times a day and you have many BT devices working.
