Windows XP install 0x0000007B - Dimension C521

hi,
i can't install Windows XP on my Dell Dimension C521 on a HDD that didn't come with it.

when installing with the 160GB HDD that it came with, it'll install fine.

when installing with a random  Fujitsu 120GB HDD i have, it'll BSOD just after "Setup is starting Windows..." with the code 0x0000007B.

it might be a driver issue, but then again, that wouldn't make much sense, since it's just a disk.

update: i think i'm wrong about the problem: it probably doesn't see the HDD, because Windows XP doesn't come with SATA drivers.

i can't find a setting in the BIOS/System Setup to have it function as ATA or IDE or whatever on revision 1.1.8.

0x0000007B BSOD is likely due to the SATA mode. check your BIOS and set it to IDE/Legacy instead of AHCI. you can also wipe the Fujitsu HDD completely before trying again. Should fix the issue!
