Windows Installer can't be accessed

Whenever I try to download anything it says "Windows Installer could not be accessed"

Does anyone know what I can do or do I have to use the restore cd? Please help!

I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

a link to microsoft support site. check first if windows installer is activated in either msconfig or services.msc

if all the instructions fail, I think you might need to use the restore CD. remember to back up files first.

Google for something called "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility".  Run it and see if the issue goes away.

I haven't had time to finish, I did check and it seems to be activated, so it looks like the restore CD. and J---thank you for your service, courage and bravery .

Corix I went to that website that you sent and I followed the instructions, it said that my windows installer is shut off. How do I turn it back on? Anyone?

I'm still confused as to what I have to do to turn my windows installer back on?

It said it was shut off? I have no idea how that happened, other than making

the mistake of letting a kid have access to my computer. Is there anyone who

can tell me how to turn it back on? Please?
