Windows 11 not updating after resetting PC

Question

I set up my new Alienware x17 and at first the windows 11 updated numerous Quality and Definition updates including Cumulative updates, intel graphic updates etc.

After updating Nvidia drivers the brightness started to malfunction so I reset the pc "removing all files" and doing a "local install"

My issue was fixed after resetting, but windows 11 did not update all those updates which it first did prior to the reset. It only updated windows defender and 2022-04 Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057).

It did not update all the Quality and Definition updates like before. Although in device manager I saw some devices were updated to the drivers prior to the reset (when windows 11 did it automatically) , and some like the intel UHD graphics were not.

The support assist downloaded some updates and tells me the PC is up tp date, so does the windows updater.

I do not understand why I am not getting all the other windows 11 Definition and Quality updates prior to the reset anymore.

Open the run box and winver and let us know what version you show. There isn't a lot of activity right now since the next Win 11 version is getting closer to release to the public.

Hi @Hawd welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum.

Product Support does not recognise Alienware x17, it wants the Revision number: R1 or R2.

Please run the Windows 11 Update Troubleshooter.

Click Start -> Settings -> System.
Scroll down in the right window and click on Troubleshoot. Then click Other troubleshooters to see list of troubleshooter tools related to different hardware and devices.
Click on the Run button next to Windows Update. The Windows Update Troubleshooter will run automatically to detect and fix problems that prevent you from updating Windows 11.
When the troubleshooter finishes running, Restart (not Shut Down) your system to see if you can install the latest Windows 11 updates.

The revision number is R1. I have tried this method already, yet the windows 11 updater still says that the PC is up to date.

Winver shows the following version of Windows 11:
Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.918)

I’m not sure if windows accumulated all the updates I did prior to the local install when I reset the PC(from the windows settings) because I did not install the factory image instead it was a local install.

Is that why it’s not giving me any more updates? I haven’t found any resources on this.

The .918 is the latest version.  Updates are downloaded and installed during such operations.  So, you look like you are ready for the next update, whenever it shows up.
