Win7 clean install problems, oem iso download

Alright so, I installed ubuntu on my dell latitude e6230, wiping the whole drive. Recently I've been wanting to go back to windows. Since the windows product key on the back of my laptop is for a pre-installed windows, I couldn't download it straight from microsoft website. After contacting their support, they gave me a download link for a win7 iso, so I thought the problem was solved. However, during installation I get 0x80070570 error at 1% of installation.

Couldn't solve that problem on my own, so I contacted MS support again, this time they told me that the installer they gave me WON'T work because I need OEM iso from dell, and told me to get it from Dell support - apparently it worked for other people.

So, my questions are:

- What do you guys think about it?

- Where do I get the win7 oem iso?

It was set for ATA.

Anyway, solved the problem - turns out it wasn't the hard drive that windows installation had problems with - it was the pendrive. Switching it from usb 3.0 spot to usb 2.0 solved the problem.

That error comes from unsupported SATA (drive) hardware -- you need to press F6 during the installation and connect a flash drive with the SATA drivers on it, and load them:

www.dell.com/.../driversdetails

That said, a non-OEM copy of Windows won't activate using the Dell key - you will either need to call Microsoft to activate, or contact Dell to purchase a set of recovery media for your system.  Windows 7 isn't available by download from Dell -- and in order to make the purchase, you must be the registered owner of the system.

I'll worry about activation once I'm actually able to get the system up and running - no point looking too far ahead. I downloaded and extracted the drivers from this link, and during the windows installation all of them were marked as "incompatible with your hardware", so I'm not exactly sure what to do next.

What mode is the drive controller set for (RAID/AHCI/ATA)?

The updated Dell Skylake Windows 7 Professional January 2016 Media Refresh .iso has the USB 3.0 driver support. OEM SLP will also be automatically applied:
