This would be our correct stance on the issue. Custom images are Out Of Scope under the Dell warranty. Dell would only support the original OS the unit shipped with and would only aid in reinstallation of the original OS. The warranty will not be void by changing the OS. That said, dependent on the warranty level of your system, best effort support may still be provided. So in practice, if your unit shipped with Windows 11 Home but you upgraded to W11 Pro, you should effectively still receive support on most issues. Ex: if you have the SupportAssist app and that found a hardware failure, you should still contact Support to resolve that issue. Your limitations would really come down to reinstalling W11 Pro or some specific configuration that is dependent on a Pro license.
In the scenario where your system shipped with W11 Home, but you upgrade to W11 Pro, then your new activation key will be tied to your Microsoft Account. Should Windows be reinstalled with W11 Home, you'll simply just retrieve your Pro license post OS installation within your MS account details.
Greater limitations will be present if a unit shipped with W11 but then you change the OS to some version of Linux. Refer to the supported operating systems in your units owners manual to see if it is something we have validated to work on the hardware. That will typically only be some instance of Ubuntu and RHEL for certain models. Again, software support will be dependent on your warranty level and what OS the unit shipped with.

It seems that some misunderstanding in communication somewhere. You may install software, upgrade OS and it does not void the system warranty. Only damage occured during an upgrade and issues caused by third party software would not be covered. And, for technical support diagnostics, system must be with OEM configurations.
As for Win 11 pro upgrade, it would cost only $60 USD today, when am testing in configurations. Use link below and note the system price, scroll down and change from Home edition to Pro edition and see price.

DELL chat stated that if you upgrade from the originally installed version, they would not support any issues with the upgraded version.

Is there any way to purchase a new SSD with the pre-installed image with Windows 11 Pro. My laptop purchase was and emergency purchase, and it only came with Windows 11 Home.
Ironically, the issue I am having now is one the SupportAssist created. I purchased a WD25Z Pro Docking Station to connect a second monitor and everything was working until I made the mistake of running SupportAssist. It updated the drivers and the second monitor no longer works on any Display port or HDMI port. Connecting the same monitor using the same cables to my previous Dell laptop and docking station works. Dell support's solution is to reset the OS to original settings. I find that a little extreme to resolve issues with a docking station. The Windows 11 Home image from Dell (but most likely Micro$oft) came with System Protection off so that no Restore Points were created. My bad for thinking the SupportAssist would not brick my laptop or be able to roll back its own updates.

@WeimsGuy54 I would expect your issue to be related to the docking station firmware. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing an older version available for the dock at this time. If we can roll back the dock firmware, then that should resolve the monitor issue as it began after the update. I personally wouldn't recommend reinstalling the OS as the firmware is already applied to the dock. I'll check back in if I can find a version older than 01.01.13.01.

Dell support chat just told me that upgrading would void my support contract. I can't find any place on the Dell website to upgrade, but support chat said it cost $199. Amz sells an upgrade for $99. I really want to know because right now when ordering an Alienware m18 you can only get the Black Friday discount on WinHome. Choose WinPro and the price goes up $900.

Hi , yeah, I recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 11 Home to Pro, and it was surprisingly smooth. I also prefer Pro for the extra features like BitLocker and Remote Desktop, which make a big difference in my work. All I had to do was purchase a Pro license key, which I found at a good price on Windows 11 Pro Key, and then enter it in the activation settings on my laptop. The upgrade was completed in minutes without needing a fresh install.
