Reset To Factory Settings Greyed Out

Alienware Aurora R7

Alienware Aurora R7

I’m trying to reset to factory settings using support assist os recovery, but it’s greyed out. I don't want to choose the rest & update option. I want to reset to factory settings like it was shipped to me.

I attached an image below (it's not from my system because obviously, it shows the reset to factory settings as not being greyed out), for reference.

Any way I can get the factory image that came from the manufacturer?

Hi,
For downloading the factory image you can use the support assist OS recovery tool and can download the image. Please use below link to download the software and then enter your service tag of the system. It will guide you further with options. Also you will need a minimum 16 GB USB drive to download the image.

Let me know if it resolves the issue.

Few months back had the same problem. All I had to do was enter advanced mode with the Dell OS Recovery Tool. Then I was given the option to download images that could be manually factory reset and images that could not be manually factory reset. If you use the OS recovery tool in automatic mode, the latter will be downloaded. For some reason, I couldn't find this big difference in any of the software documentation and had to find it myself.

@Super_tech I don't see a referenced link.  Can you please provide it?

@Super_tech This in reality is harder than you thought. This picture was after I chose Reset and Update as the wrong option instead of Reset to Factory settings a long time ago which needs internet to do that task and then wiped out the hard drive as it became deleted or corrupted. I tried that software as SupportAssist Recovery tool in latest version to restore to the original one but it still gave to me only one option as that option . Until now, I still have been in searching.
