No OS image for this tag, though images exist... Message when trying to recover
All
I believe this is the sequence of events that got me here
Alienware x51 R2
I "inherited" this from my son. I bought this for him as a christmas gift in 2014 and he's recently moved to a new box.
I updated the bios through the Dell site and began receiving Activate Windows shortly thereafter.
When I try to activate trough windows I receive an error code None of the resolutions to this problem on the net have helped. I have since tried to use the Dell OS recovery tool. When I run it, it recognizes my computer and the service tag, but says, "No OS image for this tag, though images exist for the product.
I've scanned the answers in this community for this problem, but I haven't identified any that seem relevant.
Can anyone suggest a path to green?
Thanks,
Der Duke

The Windows 10 Media Creation Tool is here (it should be updated to a new build in 1-2 days):
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
I've put together full installation instructions here:

Download Windows 10 from Microsoft (I would wait a few days so you can get the updated installation .iso) and clean install using your Windows 7 OEM Product Key. If your system shipped with Windows 8.x/10 OEM the key is embedded in the hardware and will automaically be input during installation.

Philip - Are you sure this will work? I am having the exact same problem as Duke. I have an Alienware X51 R2, that originally came installed with Windows 7 Home Premium. Will a fresh Windows 10 install definitely work with my old Windows 7 activation key?

Just tested Windows 10 Version 1709 it still accepts Windows 7 OEM keys during installation (selecting the correct Edition of Windows 10)

Once again, thanks for your help. I finally had the opportunity to follow your above instructions and I'm happy to report that my account and digital license are in synch. I no longer have the above problem.
Best,
Duke
