New laptop will not finish installing

New Dell Inspiron 3511. Tried to install updates. It stopped at step 2. Has been on now for 12 hours and still has not finished.

Contact your seller for assistance.  This is either a "new" old stock system or was purchased used -- Dell and most retailers would not be selling a 5 year old system as new.

It sounds like the installation process might be stuck. You can try performing a hard reset by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds to force the laptop to turn off, then turn it back on and try the update again.

If the problem persists, it could be a software or hardware issue. Did you purchase the laptop new from an authorized retailer? If so, contacting the seller or Dell support for assistance might be the best next step.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if the update completes there?
