MS Installer Problems

Folks, I try to install a MS Front Page and all other software, received that error:

"The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occurr if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the windows Installer is not coreectly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance".

The solution from tech support was re-install XP, but is  not possible due to the Installer service is not working. In addittion I try to do a manual start for this service with this path:  c:windows\system32\MsiExec.exe /V  but i receive the following error:

"Could Not start the windows Installer Service on local computer.

"Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified." "

If someone have an idea please let me known, will be appreciated. (sorry for my english)

pancho_pr,

I assume you are using the instructions from this document. Whether the installer service is working or not has no bearing on the ability to reinstall Windows XP but it should not be necessary.

If you posted the exact path you used when editing the registry there is a typographical error in it. It should be
c: \Windows\System32\msiexec.exe /V and that correction may make the solution work.
