Issue Logging into Windows 11 Using my PIN (New DELL XPS 8950)

Hello, DELL Community:

Hopefully someone can help me.

I purchased a new DELL XPS (Windows 11) a few weeks ago.  I am noticing an unusual issue when logging into Windows 11 using my 4-digit PIN.

When I start my DELL XPS, I am taken to the Windows 11 login screen, where I am asked to enter my PIN.  When initially entering my 4-digit PIN, the first two characters are successfully entered; however, the next two PIN characters fail to enter successfully (the entries freeze).  In order to successfully enter my PIN, I have to backspace through the partial entry, and reenter the PIN. This occurs only on the Windows 11 login screen; I have no issues with any other keyboard entries.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

John

I have no idea, but trying to generate some ideas/data points:

  • Do you still have the problem if you lock the screen from the Start menu? (From Start menu, click your account avatar, then "Lock")
  • Do you have the problem using the on-screen keyboard? (Click the Accessibility icon at the lower right -- the little person -- then "On-Screen Keyboard")
  • Do you have the same problem if you change your PIN to something else in Settings? For instance, if you have a numeric PIN, does changing it to one with letters/symbols change the result?
