Inspiron AIO 5415 font issues
Inspiron 24 5415 All-in-One
Purchased two AIO Inspiron 24 5415 from Dell, as needed to replace two computers at home. One unit had uneven backlighting of the screen, but still decided to keep it. The second unit had screen defect, so had to ask for replacement. Replacement unit had font issues (font thin and jagged). The issue could not be fixed using available manual settings and system reinstallation, so after trying unsuccessfully to resolve the issue with technical support, had to ask for replacement again. Interesting thing is that the first unit had no issues with font at all. The second replacement unit had the same issue with the font as the previous one. Again, tried first to fix the issue with technical support, but all their actions came down to playing with standard manual settings and system reinstallations, after which they recommended to replace the unit, so I had to do it again. The next replacement unit also had exactly the same font issue, as the previous ones. I tried to explain that if all the replacement units have the same issues with the font, it’s probably the issue with initial manufacturing settings, or at least it can be software related, and asked someone at Dell to look into it in detail and fix it. But apparently none at Dell’s service department wanted to waste time on that and, as a result, they recommended to exchange the unit or return it. I had to keep the last replacement unit as needed a second PC for home. Saw the forum at Dell’s website that several people had same problem as well. I used to buy from Dell before, but it looks like the company decided to focus on selling PCs at lower price (compared to major competitors), but at the expense of the quality of products and service.
