Inspiron 15 3576, Windows 11 and Realtek Audio/3.5mm Jack Detection Issue
Inspiron 15 3576
Hi All,
For months I resisted the suggestion from Microsoft to update my Laptop to Windows 11 because it was 'compatible'. I finally gave in. I didn't check with Dell first and I've subsequently found out that the last official support for this model's drivers was Windows 10. I and am now having problems with the audio drivers detecting anything plugged into the 3.5mm audio jack. I have so far tried all the solutions posted on the web, from a problem with the device cable to reinstalling drivers. Anecdotally, this started with Windows 11 sporadically up until a few days ago when I reinstalled the Microsoft Audio Inputs And Outputs Drivers via Device Manager. This worked until I rebooted (but without any pop up window) until a reboot. It is not working at all now. Before I bite the bullet and revert to Windows 10, I thought I might as if anyone has any suggestions:
My system info is as follows:
Inspiron 3576
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz
16GB Memory
1TB SSD
Here are the various driver details via Device Manager. I notice that the events tabs show potential problems with several of them:
For the Audio Inputs and Outputs: 'Device settings for xyz were not migrated from previous OS installation due to partial or ambiguous device match.' (I suspect that this is the main problem. However, it's a Microsoft driver and the 'Roll Back' option is greyed out).
For Sound, Video and Game Controllers: 'Device xyz requires further installation.'
I have tried updating the Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers as recommended for my model via the Dell support site but this didn't fix it.
I have tried updating the Dell Waves MaxxAudio Pro drivers for my model via the Dell support site (I am currently running V1.0.113.0). This now takes you to the Microsoft App store. When installed, this version reports that the drivers are out of date and to check Windows Updates. Updates are all currently up to date.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks in Advance.

As @JOcean mentions, if Dell does not support the system in Win 11, we have no way of knowing why, so it could be for this reason.
I have a system a year older than yours and I am using the Windows 10 drivers and still just installing the Realtek drivers to get the Waves MaxxAudio Pro utility installed.
Drivers for my sound device are Realtek 2/11/2020 6.0.8895.1
The Waves MaxxAudio Pro utility is available from the Microsoft store, but it may not work in all systems. This is what I show when I plug in the headset.

Hi @JOcean,
First of all, apologies for the late reply. I have been travelling with limited access.
I followed the link you suggested and it reports that the Waves Maxx Audio Pro Windows 10 64-bit drivers are incompatible (Strange, as the laptop was bought with Windows 10).

Hi @Saltgrass ,

The Realtek drivers I currently have are later than yours. I probably updated them trying to fix this issue. It all worked fine under Windows 10 and I used to get a pop up similar to yours.

@NickTipp Hey,
I've been witnessing the same issue and since there is no official fix now, I am just rebooting my laptop with plugged-in earphones, and it works until you unplug the speakers from jack 3,5 mm input.
Hope that helps)
