How do you create a bootable clone of your hard drive with all your personal files and programs on a flash drive?

I need to send my laptop in for service. Before I do so, I want to create a bootable clone of the hard drive, including all personal files, programs, settings, etc. on a flash drive. When I get the laptop back, if the hard drive has been erased or if a new hard drive/other parts end up in the laptop, I want something where I can plug into the flash drive and just restore everything exactly as it is now, before I send the laptop in. I did this years ago on a Mac with a small, free piece of software and it was very easy to restore. From what I can tell, recovery drives aren’t going to save your data or programs, so something like Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery won’t help. Am I going to need third party software and if so, what are my options? Thanks for the help.

Hi

Consider....

Macrium Reflect

Clonezilla

AOMEI Backupper Standard

and choose whichever seems suitable.

@anne_droid Will each of these do what I want? I want to be certain before I pick one. A lot of times, these tools don’t specifically call out creating the image on a flash drive and that’s what I hope I can find.

Hi

Dunno.

IF there was a hardware change, then maybe the cloned image would not fit, or function.

I think you should check your needs/wants and choose accordingly, bear in mind if it is a software issue, then the clone will carry that issue forward.
