How can I get rid of close captioning when viewing a DVD?

I'm sure my problem is easily fixed, but I simply don't know how to do it. Basically, I want to get rid of close captioning on my DVD power player. When I play a commercial DVD, just an ordinary movie, etc. the close captioning somehow defaults and  I can't get rid of it. I've looked in settings, but can't find anything specific to help me. How can I get rid of close captioning when viewing a DVD?
