does one loose OEM status if one changed from dell win 11 home pro with digital a/c

Hi, I have got 3910 inspiron desktop with win 11 home pre installed.

It was activated using the outlook account with microsoft thro digital activation method.

I have got the pro key and activated the same with the same outlook account.

I was told that the oem status of the product becomes non oem once it was activated with another improved version and it is now only a limited warranty product.

I think that microsoft would not have activated it to pro, if the same product is not there in their servers .

how the oem status change to non oem status.

could members through light on this

Re: it is now only a limited warranty product.

are you talking about Dell warranty or MS?  If you ask Dell warranty, it only covers software installed by Dell factory and in this case Win 11 home.  If you have Win 11 pro installed, OS issue would not be covered by Dell in theory.  But if they do not look too closely they might not even notice you have upgraded.  they might still help you if needed.  Just do not tell them in their face: Hey I have changed your factory OS to mine and expect them to say okay will still help you.

MS has no warranty but if you have trouble you can always do a clean install again. MS recognizes you have a pro key associated w this PC on their server so you do not ever need to type it again.  For future clean install of Win 11 Pro it will be automatically activated once on line.
