Dell updates

Why are there updates everyday I log into my laptop?  Even when I think they are all completed and up to date, there is always more.  Why doesn't this laptop recognize ALL updates and do them at once?  This is irritating because I have various windows open while working and when the update happens it closes them all and I have to sign back into them just to work!
