To stop apps or files from running in the background on your laptop, you can either disable background apps globally or manage them individually through settings or Task Manager.
Here's a breakdown of methods:
1. Disabling Background Apps Globally (Windows):
Windows Settings:
Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Background apps.
Under "Background Apps," toggle "Let apps run in the background" to Off.
Battery Usage Settings:
Go to Start > Settings > System > Power & battery > Battery usage.
You can manage background activity for specific apps here.
2. Managing Background Apps Individually (Windows):
Task Manager:
Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc).
Go to the Processes tab to see all running processes, including background ones.
Select the app or process you want to stop and click "End task" or "End process".
Note: Be cautious when ending system processes, as this can lead to instability.
Settings:
Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
Select the app you want to manage, then click "Advanced options".
Under "Background apps permissions," choose "Never" or "Always" depending on your preference.
3. Closing Programs Running in the Background (Windows):
System Tray:
Right-click the program's icon in the system tray and select "Close," "Exit," or "Disable".
Task Manager:
Open Task Manager and go to the Processes tab. Highlight the program you want to close and click "End process"
