deleted document remains on desktop
I have just deleted a Word document from my OneDrive desktop folder, which is now my actual desktop. However, when I go to my desktop, the document is still there and obviously cannot be deleted or opened because it does not exist and yet persists on my desktop.
I got rid of it by logging out and in again.
For the moment, this issue is just at the curious stage. Though I have replicated this with a notepad document.
Can anyone explain why this happens and suggest a way to stop it, please?
Thx

@Rockface ,
My guess is that OneDrive did not refresh your desktop display when you deleted the shortcut directly from the OneDrive Desktop folder. A better approach would have been to delete it directly from the desktop itself. The reboot cause OneDrive to refresh what it had in its Desktop folder for display.
Personally, I removed OneDrive from my computers. It was too intrusive, and a mistake with it could cost you the data in the OneDrive folder if it was not also on your local computer, and if you don't very carefully stop syncing, move the files to your local folders, and then disable/uninstall it. Of course, if you are using Microsoft 365, OneDrive will just be resurrected. I use LibreOffice.
I hope this helps. Have a great day.
Regards,
Phil
