d6000 not showing 3rd screen with desktop pc

Hi all,

i have a d6000 docking station and use it with laptops with 3 screens. i recently got a desktop and cant get the 3rd screen to work.  from what i have read is that this is due to usb-c not having display atl mode.

i then bought a thunderbolt controller so i have thunderbolt 4 on the machine and it still does not show 3 screens using the desktop pc.

does anyone have any suggestions on what i am doing wrong.

Most desktops cannot send video over USB-C -- and there are many different variants of Thunderbolt cards.  Does the Thunderbolt card have displaylink functionality?

That card mentions having displayport alt mode -- so it should support two displays wiithout the need for a docking station at all.  It also has a displayport connector, so it should take a third monitor through there (or just connect it to the video out on your GPU from the system).

thanks for your help.     the reason for the docking station is to easily switch from my work laptop to my personal without moving many plugs.

the thunderbolt connector should work so obviously there is a setting that is wrong. i will investigate on the weekend see if i can sort it out.
