Can't load user profile
When i try to log in to my user profile, i get a message saying "Windows cannot load the user profile but has logged you on to a default profile". Then another box opens with the message DETAIL "The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry but the specified file is not in a registry file format".
I have my pc about a year now and this only started a few days ago. As far as i know i never made any changes to the system so i cant understand why this is happening. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

The first thing I'd try is System Restore to a date that precedes the problem. If that does not work, create a new account for yourself then copy the information from your present account into it (see this). Then delete your existing account.

To correct the default message, and a normal boot, you need to rename the UsrClass.dat to UsrClass.old and UsrClass.dat.log to UsrClass.old.log, located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows.
They will be restored by MS on the next boot and the default login should be gone.
