Can't install Dell Quickset.

I've tried all of the Quickset downloads available for Vista and they all unzip successfully, but when its time to install I get the following message: This is not a supported system.

Now what?

If you are downloading from the Dell website. Make sure you get the OS set to the bit of your system and that the other options are right on the Dell Downloads & Drivers page.

1> Check in Add/remove programs if you have quickset installed. If present remove it and restart computer.
2> Then download the quick set from this link

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>

3> Or search and download the file R151443.EXE

Tell me if this helped.

oops !!!!!! my mistake. Dell offers Quickset to be installed only on specific system models.
Unfortunately INSPIRON 6000 doesn't come with quickset factory installed.
As Quickset is a properiety software of Dell. The BIOS programming doesn't allow it
to be installed on any other system. :smileysad:

It wasn't preinstalled.  I've already tried downloading the one you linked me to and it unzips okay, but when its time for the install it fails...

So what are you saying?  I had QuickSet last weekend before I upgraded to Vista.  My computer hasn't changed (still the 6000), so why wouldn't Dell let me DL QuickSet now?

'Coz they don't have the quickset for INS 6000 released.
If you try to search with your svctag in support.dell.com
Then under applications for windows vista you won't find
Quickset listed.

Why wait for Dell when you can do it yourself?! Here's how I did it:

1- Downloaded the quickset software from the link "INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE" provided.
2- Extracted it (double click)
3- Downloaded an MSI extractor ( LessMSIerables)
4- Extracted LessMSIerables & run lessmsi.exe (just to be on the safe side, I run lessmsi.exe under XP SP2 compatibility mode & as Admin)
5- Browsed to the quickset.msi file (should be under C:\dell\drivers\R151443) & opened it (from within lessmsi.exe)
6- Made sure all files are ticked (selected) & clicked Extract
7- Once all files were extracted, I created a shortcut to quickset.exe & copied it to the start menu under startup.

DONE! :smileyvery-happy:

You can now start the shortcut & you'll see Dell's quickset icon on the taskbar & it should start automatically the next time you restart your Inspiron.

Good Luck!

Note: Don't delete the C:\dell\drivers\R151443 folder as it contains the files necessary for quickset to run!

I can't tell if theis question was ever answered - I bought an XPS 700 used, and upgraded memory, HDD, etc - loaded Win7 64-bit - runs great!!!

The only problem I can't solve is using the chassis LEDs - same issue with the Quickset version - tried them all, and got the "unsupported" error.

Any advice???
