BSOD & start up repair...

I've had a person have 2 of the 3 desktops I'd recommended from Dell not be able to successfully complete the startup repair & had to do a complete wipe & reinstall, losing all the files transferred in the process (including one that used LapLink!) & wanted to be as prepared for this in the future, in the event this happens again,

So is there a built in option, using Windows or Dell utilities for backing up to an image file that can be used with this in the future?

I use Acronis True Image on all our PC's.

Wife just got a new Dell Tower EBT2250 and the FIRST thing I did was install Acronis (https://www.acronis.com/en-us/#homehttps://www.acronis.com/en-us/#home) on C: and run a back-up to an External 4TB USB drive. Then schedule additional back-ups. PM me if you'd like more details or 'how to do it'. By the way,, with Acronis you can restore individual files and/or folders, as well as complete disk or individual partitions. Another similar program is Macrium Reflects. Windows does allow Cloud Backup, but I am not sure how 'complete' as I've never used it, and you'd have to get more OneDrive Space to use it fully probably.

There are OTHER Back-up programs for Windows, Google it.

All I can say is that I've used Macrium and Acronis and both work. I just have a long history of using Acronis. Does run in the background on schedule, and even on a slow XPS8500, you never knew it was running unless you tried to access the disk it was saving, and it would slow down access. Doesn't happen on the i7 Intel Core 2 265 Ultra though... never know it was running.

By the way, it saved my butt on the EBT2250, after cloning over the XPS8500 using LapLink, and doing some customization and adding some utilities, I want to change from RAID 0 to AHCI.

New Windows 'users' are forced to use PIN vs. Password. Not a problem really. So I make the 'posted' way to change to AHCI using SAFE MODE. Went back to Real Mode and when I got to the Windows Log-in page and it asked for the PIN, I entered it, and Windows responded it couldn't 'read' the PIN???? Could NOT find the way out of this.

So I went into BIOS and changed back to RAID0. Still didn't work. So I fired up the Acronis recovery Flash Drive I made and restored ALL of the SSD C: partitions... Worked like a charm... and glad I did it.

I must say it was A GOOD thing I did that.
