BIOS fails to install with Dell Command Update but can be installed manually
I have Dell Command Update installed on all of the Dell Latitude's I support and am seeing that the BIOS update to 1.18.0 fails to install from DCU on the Latitude 5540s but will install if I download the BIOS update directly from the Drivers & Downloads page for this model.
I just wanted to report it since we have over 1300 5540s so I figure other users of the model may be having the same issue.

Noticed in the activity log during the download process that the update file isn't signed. Hopefully a quick fix.

@agood0624 Thanks for that. I'll have to do a better job of looking at the log files now before posting.

How is this "solved"? The problem still exists, even if there's a manual workaround.

@svsupc Funniest part is there's a new BIOS update through Dell Command for the 5540s released on the 14th that is also failing... haven't confirmed that this is also unsigned but it's acting exactly the same as the previous one.

@svsupc I agree. The so-called solution solves nothing for us.

Just a quick note: Latitude 5300 is having exactly the same problem with new BIOS-version 1.33.1. Updating from Dell Command Update fails because the exe-file is not signed. DELL: please remove the "Community accepted solution" from this thread.

Any news or workarounds on this issue? Manually updating the BIOS on hundreds of systems is quite problematic.

@truthdwiml I made a case about this and Dell made this remark:
"As per the update from our higher level team, they are working on the case and new patch file will be uploaded soon and will be fixed in the mid Feb with the latest update."
Hopefully this will solve BIOS update problem. I havent been able to verify this yet though.

I had the same problem with DCU on Latitude 7340. But they have recently fixed the signature issue with bios files. Hope it is working for you now.
