Alienware Command Center

I noticed that Alienware Command Center was causing some really hard CPU spikes.

Does it need to be installed for any reason? I'm using an AW3423DW and while I'd rather not have it installed, if the monitor needs it for things like fan control, I guess I'll have to make do with it.
