scale-up and scale-out of VxRail

I have a question on the VxRail scaleup and scaleout and hope someone advises.

For example, we now buy an E660F with a single Gold-CPU of five nodes. The single CPU node is more than enough now.

In a year, CPU demands increase and want to double up.

Is it just adding another CPU in the free slot or replacing the entire nodes?
My second question is, Can we mix nodes with different CPU types (Gold and Platinum) nodes?

Hello pdsmicro,

You will need to do a node upgrade as you can’t just insert the new CPU in the slot.  In most cases you can mix node types but would have to look at your entire configuration to be sure.

CPU Upgrade are supported for VxRail node with both scale-up and scale-out method.

Please beware that you must take RPQ approval prior to CPU upgrade work.

You can check Tech FAQ for more detail in Processors section around P.32.

Yes, you can. But you cannot mix different vendors (Intel and AMD) in the cluster.
