adding foreign host to VxRail Vcenter
Hi there,
I'd appreciate if somebody provides details and limitation in regards to adding existing vsphere (foreign) hosts to VxRail vCenter for data migration? It is clear that we can't add existing vsphere hosts into the VxRail cluster however, can we add them into the same Data Center or we should create a new Data Center in order to mgrate data with vmotion?
thanks

We wont be able to add foreign host in our Marvin Data center.
We can create a external Data center with in the VC of the VxRAIL , move ESXi to this cluster.and now you should be able to move VM's between these two data center but not via vMotion but with SCP.
Hot vMotion from external host to VxRAIL cluster will fail due to any/all of the following reasons :
1. Licenses issues between
2. Chipset issues, you may have to go with Enhanced vMotion
3.VxRAIL used VSAN and other datacenter (foreign host) may have external storage.

You can use VMware Converter to migrate VM's from one environment to another.
You could also present a NFS file system or iSCSI datastore to both environments and use that as a stepping stone to get a machine from one environment to the other.
