Windows RDS Server 2008 R2 hide start-menue-items

Hi,

does someone know a way to hide "control panel" and "system management" from RDS-Users without hiding "printers and faxes" as well?

Via GPO you can only hide "control panel" including "printers and faxes" and "network connections", and not "system management"...!

i could also hide both items via start-menue-properties directly on the RDS servers, but of course, enabling these settings this way apply to the administrator as well...!

kind regards,

Tim

Allways go into your GPO's in edit mode, right click and select the properties of the GPO and edit the security..set the domain admin's to Deny apply profile...

you should only be using domain admin accounts for management so it won't effect you for day to day processes.

This will give your domain admin full functionality to manage the server, while blocking stuff for users.

You will need to hide all items in the control panel except certian ones.  Printers is Microsoft.DevicesAndPrinters

i already did that, and that is not my problem...!

the problem is that there seems to be no more fine-grained setting(s) than "Category Path: User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\Remove programs on Settings menu" in gpo to remove control panel without removing "printers and faxes" as well!

also, unfortunately, this setting doesn't remove the start-menue-item "Verwaltung (german)" - don't know the exact english translation ("administration", "administrative tools"...?)

so i'd like to know if there's a way to have:

- hide control panel (but still showing printers and faxes)

- hide administrative tools
