Unable to Delete VM

In vWorkspace I am unable to delete a VM that was in the process of creating and failed.  The error I receive is "An unexpected error has occurred in the program"  What steps should I take to remove this entry.  The VM is not in SCVMM.

Hello Linda,

If you have an orphaned VM that is shown in the vWorkspace Console but not on the hypervisor then you may not be able to remove it using the normal delete process.

To remove the entry from the vWorkspace Console right-click on the VM object, select the Delete option. You will then see the usual Delete options window, now hold down the CTRL + SHIFT keys while selecting the OK button. This will display a pop-up message asking if you want to "Kill selected computer records?" select Yes.

Kind Regards

David

David,

Thank you for your reply I did follow your instructions and did get the kill message I selected yes but then received the same error and the orphaned VM was not deleted and is still showing in vWorkspace.

Hi Linda,

in the vWorkspace Management Console select the vm and go to "Delete ...". Uncheck  all the entries and click on "OK".

Hello Linda,

Could you restart the Quest Connection Broker service on the server and then try again to remove the VM using the kill process and let me know the result. If this does not work can you screenshot the error message that you see.

Thanks

David

I restarted the Quest Connection Broker and followed the kill process and received the same error. The VM was not deleted.

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the reply, the Kill process would work in most situations where an ordinary delete does not. If you are still unable to remove the VM then I suggest raising a support case so that we can look into this further.

Kind Regards

David
