Strange Behaviour of VDI

Hello,

I had observed a strange behaviour from VDI/Terminal Server session for which i could not understand the reason.

I have one Terminal server on Windows Server 2008 R2 and some VDI with Windows 7 Professional.

When i connect to VDI which is hosted in my Datacenter from home and run Speed Test using link http://www.speedtest.net i had observed it show me the bandwidth which I had actually subscribed to me at my home whereas, if i do normal RDP to the same Server/VDI it shows what eaxctly datacenter providing Bandwidth.

To see if this is actually happening, i had installed DUmeter and yes it is actually happening. I verified by downloading XP SP2 from Microsoft site, and it getting downloaded with my home link download speed and DUmeter also showed me counter increasing for download. where as i did same download with RDP connection to same VDI and download speed was noral as it should be.

Is the a bevaviour or any kind of leak in connection which utilize my bandwidth rather then of Datacenter.

Please help

Cheers,

Hi Mohit,

Speedtest.net is a Flash application. If you have flash redirection enabled and a client machine with the flash player installed, then the flash application willl be running on the client, not on the server. So rather than executing in the datacentre and getting the bandwidth there, it has downloaded to your PC and is executing on your client machine at home.

Try a non-flash speed test and you should get the results you expect.

regards,

Rick
