Restrict vWorkspace client connector version

Hi guys,

is there any chance to the restrict client version for users? For example I want that all user are only able to connect via vworkspace connector 7.6.xx and when they try to connect with a other version they should get a error message and a hint to to a update. Is that possible?

br,

christian

Option 1 is website only.

Option 2 will work

Option 3 will work if you set your Full Client to go through the SSl Gateway (This option is under Actions | Manage Connections | Firewall/Proxy Traversal | Enable RDP over SSL/TLS)

If that is not set or not needed (Eg, it's an internal user) people won't hit the SSL gateway so they'll be allowed straight through.

You can configure AppPortal via a Config.xml file and you can choose to "Hide Settings" so this would force them through the Gateway. However, if you suddenly start sending all your Internal users through the Gateway, you may find the overal experience is slower so option 2 is best.

If option 2 is used properly, they won't get any Apps at all.

As an idea, You could assign a single app to all older clients that has the name "Please update your vWorkspace Connector"

Hello,

You can do this in a few ways. Some combination of the below will catch all.

1. In the Website properties, you can check the version of the Client and launch a popup to warn them to upgrade (And even try to push the installer to them but if they are out of the domain, the IE settings often block this)

2.You could use Advanced Targets to check the Client version and only display the App if they are using that version.

3. If your Users are External and going through the SSL Gateway, you can enable "Require vWorkspace Connection Broker authentication"

Only version 7.6 Clients and newer understand this option. Anyone on an older Client will fail to connect (They won't get a helpful error message though so might generate helpdesk calls with this

method)

Thanks, Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

one more question: Can we use this 3 options for access via webaccess and workspace full client? or just via webaccess?
