RDP supported version in vWorkspace connector for Linux
Hi Everybody,
I'm using the vWorspace connector for linux, but with the Thinclient T50 from Wyse. This thinclient has a enhanced ubuntu linux as OS and there is a vWorkspace connector developed to work with it.
My question is what is the RDP version supported by the vWorkspace connector for Linux? I'm testing some other applications in the virtual desktop that required RDP 7.0 at least. Does anyone knows if there is some differences between the supported versions of RDP in the standard Linux ubuntu and the one installed in the T50?
One information more: I saw in the Wyse documentation that the RDP in the thinclient is in the version 5 (but i'm not sure about that). In this case, how the vworkspace connector works? Does it use the RDP from the thinclient base OS (direct_rdp) or it has its own RDP (custom_rdp) to work with?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Wando.

Hello Wando,
I believe that you are using the Wyse Thin O/S that came installed on the T50 thin client. I can see from their documentation that the latest build of this supports RDP 6.x compatibility, which is more recent that your version, but not version 7.0
Our vWorkspace Connector provides a wrapper around the installed RDP client to add additional feature suppport, but it will still use the RDP client from the base operating system.

Hi David,
Thanks a lot for your answer. It was the correct answer about how the vWorksapce Connector fro Linux works. But, actually, I'm using the T50 with Wyse Enhanced Ubunt Linux as OS and, in this case, it comes with RDP version 5.
I'm trying to get an update from Wyse to install a new firmware or a patch to just update the RDP from 5 to 7. In any case, as you mentioned, the vWorkspace Connector uses the RDP from the base OS, so i'm putting my efforts on that rgiht now.
Thank you again.
Regards,
Wando.

Hello Wando,
I have confirmed on the Wyse website that they have an update for the T50 client which would provide an RDP 7.x compatible client.
Hopefully you have been able to obtain this and apply it to your client.
Best Regards
David

Hello David,
I didn't find this update for the T50 on the Wyse website, so, please, could you share this information with me? Where did you find it?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Wando.

Hi Wando,
The Wyse T50 was just released ealier this year and I dont think Wyse has updated their public downloads page yet with firmware options yet. In the past I usually contacted a Wyse SE to obtain a desired firmware. Hope this helps.

Hi Wando,
I was looking at the product details for the T50 client device, http://www.wyse.com/Fulfillment/downloads/Wyse-T-class.pdf the second page of this PDF states the 'T50 is an RDP 7 compatible client'
Have you contacted Wyse support to request further information on a firmware update for RDP 7 compatibility?
Regards
David
