Quest Recovery Manager - Log File Size and Tuning

Guys,  not really sure if I have come to the right place.

We are using Quest Recovery Manager on our Domain Controllers.  On each of the Domain Controllers we see a log file located at the following location...

C:\WINDOWS\QuestRecoveryManager

The file is named ErdAgent.log and can be anything (curently) betwwen 3 - 4GB.

Can we tune the size and location of this file and if so where do I do that?

Hi Stuart,

You are indeed in the wrong place, but the KB solution article, Solution SOL38704 provides the answer:

Quest Recovery Manager includes the debug logging feature for support and troubleshooting purposes. When debug logging is turned on, Quest Recovery Manager creates several log files. The log files have .log file name extension, and are located in the Recovery Manager installation folder as well as on the Domain Controllers being backed up.

...

On the Domain Controller, the log files store under
- %windir%QuestRecoveryManager, with the name ERDAgent.log, ERIAgent.log, ERDAgent64.log or ERIAgent64.log.

...

To turn OFF debug logging (which should be done once logs have been obtained)

1. From the Recovery Manager console right-click on the top node Recovery Manager for Active Directory and choose Settings.
2. From the Settings tab, uncheck on the "Use diagnostic logging" option.
3. Click on "Apply" to get the updated setting to take effect

This will update the registry key to the original value:

Value name: LogLevel
Data type: DWORD
Value data: 2 (Hexadecimal)

regards,

Rick
