problem installing connector for Linux

Hi - I've followed the steps outlined in the admin guide, have run through the prerequisite checker - all libraries are present and configured correctly. The admin guide lists a step where you create a link "ln -s /usr/src/linux" - I did the following: sudo ln -s /usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0-15 /usr/src/linux.

Next, I ran the setup and it gets to where it says, "cannot compile kernel module. Installation terminated. See buildlog.txt file for more information" - I don't know where the buildlog.txt should be? Also, the message seems to indicate that something I did, wasn't correct. Where do I start troubleshooting where this isn't working?
