PNTSC - Launching from IGEL Client
Hi
First post....
I have 600 desktops made up of HP5125, 5135, 5145 and various brands of re-purposed PC's.
I am migrating to a new RDSH Farm 2008R2.
I have been using vWorkspace since the Ghostine brothers started it way back and really like it.
One area that I wish to change at present is the OS on the client desktop, I currently use 2x Thin Client Server to push via PXE boot their linux image to the client, which in turn allows the user to login in to AD and auto connect to a load balancer and launch a published WTS session. We have 20 WTS W2K3 farm at present.
I am testing the UDC and UMS from IGEL, the latest version and I have an old IBM Netvista PC converted to use their firmware image.
What I really want to be able to do is customise the IGEL client to prompt the user for an AD login and once the user authenicates, the client will launch PNTSC and connect to a Connection broker and be load balanced to a RDSH server and obtain a published session. I don't want to use the app-portal GUI on the desktop and I don't want to publish any applications to the desktop. basically the IGEL client for normal users is a basic shell that launches PNTSC that connects to a RDS session.
The reason I like IGEL is that it gives me central management of a disperse desktop base and I can shut down the clients when the business is closed, saving some electricity.
I would appreciate it if you could share you experiences with either IGEL or with any other desktop convertor software other than 2x.
Thanks
