pntools install error / Virtual User Profiles component
Hi,
i try to install pntools on a windows 2008 r2 server. I need to do this because I want to silo a application server.
http://documents.quest.com/DOC28931 "Before a Session Host can participate in a silo, the Virtual User Profiles component must be installed on the server."
And if i'm correct this tool is part of the pntools?
desktop experiance is installed...
but during the installation of pntools I get a error:
Error 1923.Services Quest Reminal Services Helper Service (Quest Terminal Services Helper Service) could not be installed. verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services

Hello Sander,
The vWorkspace PNtools can not be installed on a Windows Terminal Server or RDSH, this is not a supported configuration. You can install PNtools only on a VDI or Windows Server without the RDSH role enabled.
The vWorkspace Terminal Server / RD session host role installs the components required for Virtual User Profiles. The correct installation process would be:
1. Install Windows 2008 R2
2. Add the RD Session Host role
3. Install the vWorkspace Terminal Server / RD Session host role (and any other required roles)
4. Use the vWorkspace Console to configure Virtual User Profiles as required.
Kind regards
David

Hi david,
I created my first silo. when I follow the instrustions at http://documents.quest.com/DOC28931 I must add a regkey propertie. I that section i must change the scope to silo. but it also expects a registry key....?
And is it a problem when I do not select a "users profiles storage server" when creating a silo?
