NIC not connection after VM provisioning in vWorkspace 8.0.1

Hello All,

I am using vWorkspace 8.0.1 and doing provisioning of Windows 8 VM but the issue is that after VM provisioning I am getting error "" virtualization management server reported no IP address for computer" in the vWorkspace console.

I had tried to find out the issue and find that the VM on the ESX server in not connecting the NIC after provisioning from the template.

There is not issue in the template as the VM provisioning from the vCenter is ok. ther is not issue once we create vm from vCenter. But when we try to provision VM from vWorkspace then it's giving error.

Can anybody let me know the setting of NIC in the VM provisioning through vWorkspace.

Please find the attached error's screen shot.

Environment-

vWorkspace- 8.0.1

ESX- 5.1

vCenter- 5.1

Thanks

Avnish

Hi Avnish,

Do you use OS customization using the vmware option or the sysprep function from vworkspace. If you use the vmware options try to build a blank image and deploy it using vworkspace with the sysprep option.

I'm not familiar with your problem but I do know that when you sysprep and deploy a server using vworkspace it work perfectly.

Otherwise run through your vmware customization to see if there's something wrong.

AK,

Within the vWorkspace Console and the provison settings of the desktop group please try and configure the hardware configuration and set the required network config, rather than allowing it to pick up the default template settings.  I have seen something similar happen albeit on hyper-v.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply, but in vWorkspace 8.0.1 there is no setting for NIC in the console.

I am using ESXi 5.1 and vCenter 5.1 with this environment.

Hi Avnish,

I presume you use a vmware template from which you deploy your servers. If so convert the template back to a vm and then attach the nic en convert it back to a template.

Hi Sijtze,

I have already tried the same. Once I am creating the VM from template without using OS customization then NIC is showing connected. but the VM name and domain joinging will work only after customization.

Please help on the same issue.

I am using Windows 8.1 as VM template, vCenter 5.1 and vWorkspace 8.0MR1

Many Thanks

AK
