iPad vWorkspace client
Any news about the new iPad client? (there was no topic about this!)
I was told it's out of beta, and we are waiting for Apple. They have to approve the app so it will be visible in the App Store.
Does Apple have any timeframe they use before approving something, or is this totally blackbox?
Another question, does the iPad client support connections with a vworkspace SSL web access server?

Hi Guys,
Keith Graham here, the vWorkspace Connector Product Manager at Quest. There are lots of issues being discussed on this thread so I'll attempt to address them the best I can and see if I can help.
When will the vWorkspace Connector for iPad be released?
We are out of beta and in QA and plan on releasing to Apple soon. As some of you have commented the Apple approval process is black box and so by going by their guidelines we could be looking at 4-6 weeks until this is released. Of course, once it is released we will be announcing this publicly.
Why don’t we support vWorkspace Web Access?
As some of you may know iOS is purposefully restricted by Apple. Apple have good reason for doing this, but it means that in the case of Web Access we cannot download a file (our PIT file) and then spawn an iOS app (in our case the vWorkspace Connector).
When will we support 2-Factor Authentication?
On initial release, we will not have 2-Factor Authentication. The reason for this is that although vWorkspace Web Access supports this, our other Connectors do not. The reason is that the vWorkspace Connection Broker does not yet support this. Once it does, we will build this functionality into the Connectors and the Connector for iPad will then benefit from this as well. I am afraid that I cannot comment on when we will have this.
If the vWorkspace Connector for iPad doesn’t support 2FA, how can I connect to my corporate network?
You basically have two options available today:
1) You can use the vWorkspace Secure Gateway (without any 2FA support).
2) The iPad has VPN support already built in that works really well and supports L2TP, PPTP and IPSEC so you can use that, and it also support RSA SecureID.

The approval process for getting a app onto the Apple Store takes between 2 to 4 weeks. You will be able to configure the iPad Connector to utilize the RDP over SSL functionality but you will not have the ability to connect from Web Access
Hope this helps

When you say... "you will not have the ability to connect from Web Access", do you mean not the ability via Safari on the iPad or not the ability to point the iPad connector to the web access server? Which means I can only point it to the broker directly?
Cheers,
Dan

Hmmmm I agree... We don't give our users VPN access and that's the only way to connect to the brokers here...

Now that's a *real* disappointment. A device like the iPad will typically be used outside the office. You would expect the web access connector, providing SSL and two-way auth.
This really isn't good news

you will be able to conenct via RDP over SSL, we are finishing up that feature on the connector and making sure that it can be run on the latest IOS. we are hoping to have that ready fo rthe releases when that happens over the next few weeks.

Hi Daniel/Rene,
So although we can't use the Web Access to connect - there is no reason why you can't use the AppPortal function and still have direct access via the SSL Gateway to connect to Private/Corporate systems? Or am I missing something obvious?

Direct access over SSL without two way authentication to connect to a corporate network? That would be a serious security issue. The whole internet guessing passwords to get in. Or am I missing something now?
We do not allow customers to directly connect to the broker over ssl from the outside. That's why we use the web connector.
The web connector allows two-way RSA authentication. That is a requirement to access our corporate network.

Same here - OTP-Support is a must!
Is an OTP-capable Connector (for iOS and Windows!) planned...?

Glad to hear you understand the problem, and know what we want.
To clear things up, we are not waiting for web access on the ipad. As I understand, that would be very difficult/impossible.
It is two factor authentication + ssl we are looking for.
If the brokers in 7.2 do not have 2FA functionality, then it might take a long time before we can use this.
Still a dissapointment, but atleast we know exactly what's going on. Thanks!

Hi
I'm not able to launch any of the applications. I get the overview of the published applications but when i press to open it shuts down the vWorkspace client
Any known issue?
