Installing the VDI Assessment Hub Virtual Appliance
When following page 4 the document, using the credentials ssadmin/sspassword doesn't work. Is there something updated?

Hi Mike,
Thanks for trying Quest VDI Assessment solution. ssadmin/sspassword should be able to login to both the console of the virtual appliance, and the URL https://yourIPaddress as shown from the Linux console. Can you please let me know which of the two were you trying to use? what error message do you get?
Hope this helps

Ah, I should of added that there isn't a DHCP server on the vlan since this is a QA ennironment. I need to assign the IP thru the console.

When you start the virtual appliance, it assigns you an IP automatically, which is shown on the console. How do you access your concole? I mean, through what application/interface? are you accessing it remotely?

That worked. The Getting Started PDF should be updated.

The problem is that I cannot login to the console to assign an IP address to it.

are you remotely logging in? ssadmin/sspassword won't let you remotely login. can you access the console directly?

Hi Mike
If i understood this correctly, you've imported the .ova file to your ESX server and have started the virtual appliance. Did it give you an IP on the console which you can access through the web interface? Please use the given IP first to activate the appliance, you can then change the IP address and machine name etc. through the web interface. You can also use the ssconcole/sspassword to change the IP after you activate the appliance if you prefer the command line interface.
Hope this helps

Hi Mike
Glad that you've got it working! I agree with you the getting started guide could have stated this better. The above red text is for the web URL access with its username and password (for the HUB), it's not for the Linux OS. Later on page 9 [Configure Quest VDI Assessment HUB using the console] has the information on how to access the console to set the IP directly.
Cheers

Hi Mike,
Thanks for using VDI Assessment. We'll update the docs in the next version to make them clearer.
All the best,
