Increase storage size?

I've stated collecting data on a bunch of machines.  It looks like within 2 days, I'm already at 12% used.  So in about 9-10 days I will run out of storage.  How do I increase the storage of the Assessment Hub server?

Thanks.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for using Quest VDI Assessment. To add storage, log in to the Administrator part of the application (default username/password is ssadmin/sspassword) and go to one of the following places:

- Configuration/Add additional disk storage

- Hib Administration/Data retention

Both will take you to the same place. There you can add storage, set up data retention policies and so on.

This is documented in the online help in more detail.

Cheers,

Hugh

Hello Hugh, thanks for responding.  (sorry for taking so long to get back to you).

When I go to the location specified "Hub Administration/Data Retention", I don;t have any options to add storage.  I only get the options of "Status", "Export", "Schedule Export", and "Auto-Delete Settings", there is no place to add additional storage?

Hello Michael,

Thanks for finding an 'issue', namely that under 'Hub Administration' there's a section which tells you what to do to add storage but not how to do it in detail. We should provide more specific guidance. We'll get back to you once we have produced a doc laying out the steps.

Regards,

Hugh

For anyone interested... I was able to increase the size of the db volume using gparted. To be clear, I do not think this is a supported method. But from what I am seeing, it seems to have been successful and without issue.

Hugh, has the doc been created yet? I need to expand the 8GB partition to allow for more data collection.

Hi Fernama,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

We don't have any documentation about increasing disk size as it is specific to the hypervisor you use - VMWare or Hyper-V. Once the virtual disk size has been increased then it becomes Linux specific.

The steps are as follows:

- Increase the size of your virtual disk : Hard disk 2

     - Follow instructions for your Hypervisor - VMWare or Hyper-V

- Use a tool (such as gparted) to increase the size of /dev/sdb1

      - The database is on /var/log/pgsql

     - /var/log/pgsql is mounted on /dev/sdb1

      - You'll probably have to move /dev/sdb2 to the end of the disk before you can increase the size of /dev/sdb1

      - There is no problem with moving /dev/sdb2 as it does not contatin boot related sectors

Regards,

Mark.
