EOP USB VDI issue: Client Software Not Detected

Hi there,

we have an issue with EOP USB in one of our VDI environments. The vWorkspace 7.6 environment is hosting Windows XP machines under Locations/Desktops/Other and the end users connecting to their published full desktops with a vWokspace 7.6 connector for Windows (AppPortal) also running Windows XP locally.

All local machines do have the same vWorkspace connector and EOP USB configuration, but 1 machine is not connecting the local USB devices to EOP USB on the virtual desktop. You see the USB devices locally w/o any issue and can also share, unshare etc. them. The virtual desktop always shows

'RDP-TCP#.... - '

doesn't matter what you do when you open the advanced properties and have a look into the devices tab.

Which way is the best to track this issue down?

Thanks in adv.,

Holger

Hi Holger,

Open up Services on the Client machine

Search for Quest USB Hub Client

Check that the startup is automatic and that the service is started. I bet it is currently stopped.

Thanks, Andrew

Hi Andrew,

thanks for your quick response.

Our customer checks the service status today. The service on the client machine is up and running. Start type is set to automatic.

Hi Holger,

Does that machine always connect to the same VDI? Eg, can you confirm that the problem is with the Client or does it always connect to the same VDI so it could actually be the VDI that is to blame?

Thanks.

Hi Andrew,

I can confirm that the issue is with the Client. The VDI the Client get connected too is used from two Clients. From the other Client everything with this VDI is ok.

May it be that we do have a Firewall and or AV issue here? Which ports/channels are used for the communication between the Client and the VDI when it comes to EOP USB?

Thanks,

Holger
