Add second server to farm

I know this might sound like a "DUH" question... How do I add a second server to my vWorkspace Farm?

Currently I have one RDSH server with vWorkspace 8.0 on it (Running Win Serv 2008 R2)

I have a need to get a 32bit 2003 Terminal Server into the mix and want to publish an app from THAT server.

I have it so when I log into AppPortal it shows the app from that 2K3 server; however, I get the no terminal servers error message; however, AppPortal will launch the apps on the original vWorkspace Server

Hi Mike,

If you know what password you used then the remaining details can be found by running the ODBC Admin tool on the Windows 2008 server that is correctly configured. You can use this to review the correct settings without making any changes. There are no defaults as such since the database server and database name are specific to your environment.

Hi Mike,

From reading your question I believe you want to follow these steps:

1. Set up a Windows 2003 Terminal Server.

2. On this server launch the vWorkspace installer and choose the required roles, e.g Terminal Server Enhancements

3. When prompted by the install, provide the connection details for your vWorkspace database

4. Complete the vWorkspace install.

5. Open the vWorkspace Console and you should now be able to publish applications from your new 2003 Terminal Server

If you have already done this but are still having the same problem can you provide more information about how you have configured this.

Regards

David

Ya, I've already done all of that.  However, maybe on your step 3 (the SQL database)

I chose to create a new - Should I have chosen to use the one from my first vWorkspace server?

The way I had set this second server up, was just like your steps above...treating it like it was the only server in the farm

BUT when it came to configuring it, I used the same farm settings (same as my first server...  Same Farm name and same location name)

I come up with error

Error launching application [AppName].

There are no available terminal servers to connect to at this time.

Please report this message to your sys admin. (-2147019860)

Hi Mike,

When installing the Windows 2003 Terminal Server it should have been connected to the existing vWorkspace database and not into a new one. I would imagine that is causing your issue.

You can edit the settings to register this server against your main database by following these steps https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?id=SOL83906&pr=vWorkspace

if you have any follow up questions please let me know

Thanks

David

My brain isn't working

I know what passwords I used

Everything else was default

However, I cannot remember what the defaults were
